The Apple Music festival in London has been always been a staple of the fall pop music scene, but never has it been more integral to Apple’s operations than this year – when Apple Music is locked in a battle for supremacy among streaming services and Tim Cook is pushing services revenue as a replacement for Apple’s sagging hardware unit sales. This year’s event will not only be available on Apple’s product lineup but also PCs, and for the first time through the Apple Music App on Android which launched in November of last year. That means a much wider audience. Today, Apple announced the headlining lineup …Alicia Keys, Bastille, Britney Spears, Calvin Harris, Chance The Rapper, Elton John, Michael Bublé, OneRepublic, Robbie Williams and The 1975 Headline Festival’s 10th Anniversary.
Dates for the festival, which marks its 10 year anniversary this year, were announced 3 days ago. More artists may yet be added to the line-up. Last year, the festival was headlined by Pharrell and One Direction but several other artists were announced including The Weeknd before it kicked off. Last fall, Apple renovated the Roundhouse venue where the festival is held to make it more environmentally friendly. Apple also hopes to avoid the ticketing issues that have caused issues in years past.Apple Music Festival 2016 runs from September 18 to September 30. Fans based in the UK can apply to win tickets by entering prize draws on Apple Music, as well as through select media partners.
Apple’s has published artwork for the artists listed above and included quotes from many of them in the press release below.
“I love London and performing at the Roundhouse! I can’t wait to see you there. It’s going to be magic!” – Alicia Keys
“We’re massively excited to play Apple Music Festival for many reasons, but mainly because it’ll be our first proper London show after the release of our new album, ‘Wild World.’” “The Roundhouse is such a beautiful venue and it’s in our hometown, so I can’t think of a better place to play a bunch of new songs for the first time.” – Bastille
“I’m so excited to go back to London, which is a special place for me to visit and I’m really looking forward to performing at the Apple Music Festival. It’s also their 10th birthday! It’s going to be a great party.” – Britney Spears
“I’m very excited to be headlining at this year’s Apple Music Festival at the Roundhouse in London, and for everyone around the world to be able to watch it live on Apple Music.” – Calvin Harris
“I am so excited to be playing at the Roundhouse. I love London and can’t wait to share this fantastic experience at the Apple Music Festival with my fans.” – Elton John
“We are looking forward to returning to the iconic Roundhouse this year to play one of our favorite festivals, the Apple Music Festival, and perform new music for our fans!” – OneRepublic
“We’re really looking forward to being a part of this year’s Apple Music Festival. We loved playing at The Roundhouse for the 2013 Festival and are excited to be heading back this year.” – The 1975

Apple’s deal with Cash Money Records isn’t for exclusive Apple Music content, but rather for an exclusive documentary, reports Bloomberg.Apple today has inked a new deal with one of the most popular music labels, Cash Money Records. The co-founder of the label, Birdman, posted on Instagram confirming the deal, sharing a picture of himself with Apple Music executive Larry Jackson. “It’s official…Cash Money makes a power move with Apple Music,” Birdman’s Instagram post said.Cash Money Records, for those unfamiliar, houses some of the top artists in rap and all of music right now, including Drake, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Tyga, Birdman, and others. Former Cash Money artists include Busta Rhymes, DJ Khaled, Bow Wow, and others.
Since Apple Music’s launch, Apple has had a strong relationship with Drake, who was on-stage during the Apple Music unveil keynote and reportedly inked his own $19 million deal with Apple earlier this year. As part of that deal, Drake’s recent “Views” album was an Apple Music exclusive for two weeks. Additionally, Drake has hosted a show on Apple’s always-on Beats 1 radio service.Cash Money Records, however, has had a rocky few years. Lil Wayne has accused the company and Birdman of not paying artists promptly and mismanaging talent. Wayne has also accused Birdman of stifling creativity and not allowing artists to release music on time.Nevertheless, the deal with Apple could help Cash Money solve some of its problems. Young Money Entertainment – the imprint of Cash Money that houses Tyga, Drake, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and others – has put out eleven number 1 albums in the United States and should Apple be able to get exclusive rights to future offerings, it would have a strong advantage over services like Spotify. Interestingly, however, Lil Wayne is believed to be a part-owner of Tidal (via MBW).
Part of the deal likely hinges upon Apple offering Cash Money artists free promotion both in iTunes and on Apple Music, something it has done in the past for various exclusive offerings, including Taylor Swift’s tour documentary.
Beyond exclusive streaming rights, the partnership could see Apple and Cash Money working together to co-produce video content. It’s been reported in the past that Apple has worked directly with artists on music videos, while Eddy Cue himself has explained that the company is looking for exclusive content opportunities when they complement existing products.
Over recent weeks, Apple has gained exclusive rights to a pair of big upcoming releases: Britney Spears’ “Glory” and Frank Ocean’s “Boys Don’t Cry.”
Even if Cash Money’s reputation has become slightly tainted over the past two years, this deal is big for Apple. Apple is likely hoping that its money and talent will breathe new life into Cash Money and its artists.
1) In the Instagram app, tap on the + sign in the upper left corner to add a new story. This will take you into camera mode.
2) This is where you can choose to record a video, or snap a photo. But what we want to do is bring up our photo library. To do this, simply pull down on the screen, and an image picker will be revealed at the top.
3) From there, simply choose the photo or video you want to upload. You may of course annotate it before uploading it.
There are some limitations to this. First and foremost, only pictures or videos captured within the last 24 hours will be available and eligible to be shared on your story. Anything shot over 24 hours ago will not even show in the image picker. The second limitation is that if you upload a video that is longer than 10 seconds, it will automatically be cropped to fit the the 10-second format. In that case, I’d suggest editing the video first to crop it as you want it, then upload it to your story. And that is all there is to it. It’s definitely not complicated, but not completely obvious either.
For most of us setting up Touch ID, users go through the initial process of adding a fingerprint or two on their iPhone or iPad and don’t think much beyond it. Maybe you went through the process again to add the same finger a few times to make unlocking with Touch ID more reliable. For users who have added multiple different fingers to Touch ID though, if you didn’t name them to begin with, you may find that “Fingerprint 1” and “Fingerprint 2” aren’t the most descriptive names on the planet, and you have no idea which corresponds to your actual fingers in Touch ID.
Fortunately there’s an easy way to identify fingerprints in Touch ID and highlight a match with a super simple trick.
Highlighting & Identifying Fingerprints in Touch ID in iOS
This reads the fingerprint and shows you exactly which entry in Touch ID relates to what is being read by the sensor:
- Open the Settings app and go to “Touch ID & Passcode”
- Scroll down to the ‘Fingerprints’ section of the settings screen
- Now place your finger on the Touch ID sensor to highlight the matching fingerprint within the Touch ID settings
The fingerprint match will highlight in gray briefly, fading in and out, making an easy and immediate identification when a print is matched to one existing in Touch ID. If there is no print match, nothing will highlight.
This is a great trick to help improve the feature by removing a fingerprint from Touch ID if it is not working well, and then adding a fingerprint a few times to make the unlocking ability even more reliable. This is particularly helpful for using Touch ID in cold weather where skin dries out, but it can apply to humid climates as well. Just remember to clean off your fingers first, a bunch of crusted cheeto fuzz is not going to improve the experience of recognition. One more thing to note; when you add a new fingerprint to Touch ID in the future, it’s a good idea to give it a name, as it helps in identifying beyond just using this fingerprint match trick.
Safari Reader is a nice feature of the Safari web browser for iOS and Mac OS X that allows users to simplify the look of a webpage or article to just focus on the text and image content. Now with the latest versions of iOS, you can customize the look of Safari Reader too, and choose a background color, a font, and even adjust the font size of onscreen text on any webpage on the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. This makes Reader particularly great for users who are reading text on webpages and find it too difficult to read, or perhaps they want to implement their own ‘night mode’ and reduce the bright white glare of the text background.
How to Change Font, Font Size, & Background Color of Safari Reader View in iOS
- The customizations are possible in Safari for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
- Open Safari in iOS as usual and browse to a webpage or article that you would typically place into Reader view
- Tap on the Reader icon in the URL bar of Safari to enter into
Now in Reader mode, tap on the “aA” button in the opposite corner of the Reader button to access the various customization options for Safari Reader modeCustomize SAFARI READER BUTTON
- Set changes to Safari Reader as follows:
- Small A – Shrink the font size
- Large A – Increase the font size (tap repeatedly to greatly increase the text size on webpages)
- The color bubbles: white, beige, dark grey, black – these set the background color of Safari reader view
- Choose a font option as appropriate to your preferences; Athelas, Charter, Georgia, Iowan, Palatino, San Francisco, Seravek, Times New Roman
Customize Safari Reader appearance with font size and font changes and background color
- Enjoy the article in Safari Reader view, exit by tapping the Reader button in the left corner of the URL bar again
You’ll notice when playing around with the customizations that the effects are instant, giving you a live preview of what the freshly styled Safari Reader view looks like. For example, here’s Safari Reader set with a dark background for nighttime reading, and a much bigger font:
Safari Reader customized for night mode with big fonts
Safari Reader is particularly useful on the iPhone where it can turn a non-mobile friendly page into a mobile friendly and more readable version, particularly if you’ve requested the mobile site from the desktop site and it failed to load, or perhaps because the site didn’t have a mobile version or it still wasn’t friendly enough to read.Interestingly enough, the ability to adjust only the font size this way was around in some of the earlier versions of iOS Safari, but was removed for 7 and 8, to make a return again in iOS 9 Safari, with even more customizable options and reader improvements. Thus, if you don’t see the feature, it’s likely because you haven’t updated iOS to the latest version, or you’re on a very ancient version.
